Hey, I'm 17 years old and I play baseball. I'm concerned about my height because when I go to these showcases all these players that I'm competing with are a good bit bigger than me. It really kills my confidence when I'm trying to impress these scouts. I'm 5'11 180. My goal is to be 6'1. My dad is about 6'0 and my mother is around 5'5 or 5'6. I haven't grown in quite a while and i'm worried. I checked out this heightmax stuff and I'm really thinking of getting it but I'm just not convince that it works, it's alot of money to waist if its a scam. I really need some advice and some help. what do you guys think?
I don't know anything about that product, but my advice would be to save your money. You're 17 years old, 5'11", and 180 pounds? That's not so bad at all, and you may still grow taller. But even if you don't, what difference does another inch or two make? Not that much, really. It really doesn't make you any more talented. After all, Pete Rose was only 5'11", and he's the all-time leader in base hits. And did you know that Mickey Mantle and Willie Mays were both 5'11"? And nobody, and I mean nobody, ever hit a ball harder or further than Mickey Mantle.
Those players are great but they are from a different era where there was a different athlete. I know there really isn't that much difference but 6'1 195 looks way better on paper than 5'11 180 does you know. I just really need the scholarship money so I want to try anything I can to help.
Yes, they were from a different era, but by far a more talented era. There weren't as many teams, and that means that the talent was more concentrated, with much less mediocrity. The point is, if a player cannot make it at 5'11", what difference does it make whether or not he's an inch or two taller?
