Biotin and B-Complex

Hi

I've just started to take a B-Complex:

Vitamin B2 15mg
Vitamin B6 5mg
Vitamin B12 10mcg

Is it ok to take Biotin with a B-Complex like this?
I have very lite acne, will it make it worse?

I'm taking a B-complex to improve the health of my hair.

Thank you

Hi

I would take a timed released vitamin b 100 primrose oil capsules and omega 3 and 1000 mcg of biotin and 1000 mg of timed released vitamin C. Vitamin b 5 which is in the b 100 and vitamins has been used to help with inflammation in the body. The B & C vitamins are water soluble vitamins and if you donít take the timed released the wash out of you body in a 2 to 3 hour and donít help much. I take Vitamins from the
Great Earth Vitamin Stores that are timed released. The had a good hair vitamin from Great Earth that was written up in Lucky Magazine.

Re: Biotin and B-Complex

Are you certain about taking time-released B vitamins? I was told you should NOT take the time-released version because the B's are absorbed in the small intestine -- or the big one, whichever is first -- therefore the time released ones will pass through with little actualy being absorbed.

Hi

Yes I am certain about B vitamins with the current technology they can be time release for about 8 hours. Vitamin C can be timed released for about 12 to 16 hours. A person has more receptors for Vitamin C. They use the same method that the drug companies use for their medicines i.e. tablets. That's right tablets if they are made right. I hate the TV ads that misinform the public and say only capsules and liquids can work in the body. You know when I take two aspirins my headache goes away. I find that 8 hour Aleve works too. Why not vitamins?

Re: Biotin and B-Complex

As far as the Bs go, I think I read that you should NOT take niacin in the timed-release form because of potential liver problems (but is not the case with regular niacin).

I think you need selenium and zinc also to make sure the b is absorbed properly, you might want a multi as well.

Hi

Niacin either timed released or non- timed release can affect the liver. The drugs can harm the liver too. Ask your doctor to check you liver before taking niacin if you have a history of liver problem. Niacin gives you a flush.

On the selenium and zinc with B complex it is all better to take a vitamin program of timed released B and C, fat based E with selenium and beta carotene and a multi mineral tablet. Some companies make a program like this in four tablets. I use Great Earth's NSP Program.
