Re: Good Potassium Supplement?

bananas and orange juice are the safest way to increase serum K+ levels.

Hi WildStrawberry -
Well here is a SUPER DUPER Potassium Supplement - "Low Sodium V8". There is 820 milligrams of Potassium in an 8 ounce glass (and only 140 mg of Sodium). I drink two gallons a week.
A bannana only has about 450 milligrams of Potassium.

Re: Good Potassium Supplement?

Salt substitutes actually provide more potassium than the pill supplements. (The pills are limited to 99 mg. each because of the FDA.) No-salt or nu salt or something is one that I have used. This type, potassium chloride salt substitutes, are usually available in most super markets. The pills are known to cause some people stomach upset. Should be taken with food always.

Another good supplement for potassium that I have only read about is KM by Matol. This is in liquid or pill form but contains herbs and food products or something. KM also contains some iodine too. This product is only sold through marketing people and is kind of pricey. Not available in any stores, but is sold on some websites. But KM is considered a good source of potassium.

the problem thoughis that pottasium supps can cause depression in some individuals. not much chance of that with bananas with their combo of tryptophan, B-6 and vitamin C.

why not get it from food. it'll be better absorbed. pottassium is very easily obatained from a diet rich in fruit and veg.

Hi Ratboy83 -

The NON Low Sodium V8 is loaded with Sodium (like 700 mg per glass) and has very little Potassium so I always buy the Low Sodium version because thats the one loaded with Potassium.
In either case it's also only 50 calories a glass so it's pretty healthy stuff
