Flaxseed oil and joint pain

I started taking flaxseed oil for joint pain approximately 1.5 years ago. I am 58 and my right shoulder was killing me, to a point that I thought I had rotator cuff (sp?) problem. Also knee was "acting up" with minor pain occasionally. I started taking 2.5 tablespoons of high lignan flaxseed oil and after 2-3 months my joint pains were gone. 3 months ago I got lazy and quit taking the stuff. After a month or so I started noticeing what seemed like return of aches and pains. So as of a week ago I'm back on the oil and seemingly the pains are subsiding. My question is: Am I just susceptable to the psychology (sp?) of the cause and effect of this oil, or have others here had positive effects on joint pain taking flaxseed oil?

Re: Flaxseed oil and joint pain

Flaxseed oil's a keeper - omega 3s, magnesium, potassium, B vits, protein and zinc. And no your not imagining things, studies have been done on it's effectiveness in reducing pain, inflammation and the pain of arthritis. And to make it extra appealing it also lowers blood cholesterol.
Don't forget to take it, as it doesn't keep forever.

Re: Flaxseed oil and joint pain

I a B50 vitamin daily that's "supposed" to be msg free. I also take 250mg. of magnesium daily. I've been avoiding potassium because "I think" it has a negative effect on high blood pressure, which I suffer from. What do you think of taking fish oil along with Flaxseed oil?

I think it's great. I take Fish Oil, Flaxseed Oil, and Primrose oil every day.... Never felt better and my BP is low.... I also supplement the Potassium with three 8 oz glasses of low sodium V8 a day (thats about 2400 mg of Potassium).....
