I recently purchased magnesium supplements, but the one I found was magnesium oxide, is this the wrong one?

I think it depends on what purpose you are taking it for.
Also, some forms of magnesium are more easily absorbed than others.

Magnesium Oxide is poorly absorbed and is mainly used as a laxative. Best to take the Chelated or Citrate salts of Magnesium for maximum absorbtion.....

Cowspots....Thats hard to answer but here's what i know....

Magnesium works best when its bound to certain elements forming compounds (chloride, sulfate, oxide, citate, amino acid chelate etc..) All Magnesium works to enhance Enzymatic actions inside the cells for optimal health. Which works best has to do with its absorption into the body.The Amino Acid Chelates or Citrates usually are absorbed the best.....
