Iron - Necessary?
I always took One A Day women's vitamins, but I switched to the Dollar General generic version for awhile (they were sold out of the others). When I switched back to One A Day, I noticed that I got nauseous after taking it, even if I ate a meal with it. My mom said it was probably the iron. It has 100% DV of iron, and it also has more calcium than the DG vitamins. I just couldn't stomach them (no pun intended!), so I bought a Hair, Skin, and Nails vitamin - it's like a multivitamin except it has more things in it like extra biotin that are good for the hair and nails. It's also the Dollar General brand, since they were out of the DG women's formula. The problem is that it has no iron at all. I'm assuming that the DG women's vitamins at least had some iron. I don't want as much as the One A Day has, but I worry about getting enough iron. My periods tend to skip around as it is, and I've heard low iron can lead to amorrherea (spelling?). I know that leafy greens have it, but what other foods do, and is it enough to just eat foods with iron? Do I really need a vitamin that contains iron?
