I have a few questions concerning the expiration dates of supplements. Does the expiration date on the bottle of a vitamin or supplement, only apply to if the supplement bottle isn't opened yet? I was just curious. Cause there are a few different supplements that I haven't taken for several months, such as Ginkgo Biloba. I'd like to start the supplements back up again, but I wasn't sure if they are still good or not. The bottle says they are good until 2008, but I opened the bottle maybe close to a year ago.

Supplements can lose potency over time, especially in hot & humid climates. If a supplement dosen't have an expiration date don't buy it. If it has a date and has expired discard it whether it's opened or was never opened. This is why stores sell supplements at large discounts once it nears the expiration date.
Thanks for the replies. Also, I guess certain supplements go rancid quicker than others? I try to keep some of my supplements in the basement, especially in the summertime.
