Without going "over the top" there does seem to be quite a bit of evidence that omega-3 fatty acids can improve the functioning of your nerves and heart as well as improving the appearance of your skin and hair.
You could take a supplement, either fish oil or flaxseed, or you could try getting more from foods, by eating fish (especially salmon) and nuts. There's even eggs and margarine with omega-3 in them these days.
As long as you don't take more than the package recommends, an omega-3 supplement is unlikely to hurt you. Just be sure and check how many calories are in it.
