Can you take too many B vitamins?

I am taking a multi vitamin with 24mcg of B-12 in it. I am also taking a B-Complex with 81mcg of B-12 in it. I added a separate supplement of B-12 today. It contains 500mcg of B-12 only. I am having a problem with my right hands going to sleep at night. Thought extra B-12 might help. Can I OD with this amount? Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Can you take too many B vitamins?

You can take too much of anything.... but the amounts you are taking are fine. Any excess (which will be 99% of it) will go down the toilet!

Re: Can you take too many B vitamins?

actually, you could take more. i take 2500mcg of b12 a day, and if you have fibro--some drs will give 3 b12 shots a week, so you can take at least 2500mcg a day. having low iron will zap your energy, and you will have to fix the fibroid problem. there is a supplement that i just ordered called serrapeptase--read up on that one--it is supposed to help dissolve unhealthy tissue. there are many supplements you can take for energy. i have fibromyalgia and i have alot of fatigue--there is a book called "from fatigued to fantastic" by dr. teitelbaum. it's for chronic fatigue and fibro but it would help you immensley with the lack of energy. some of the ones i take are malic acid/magnesium, multi-vit, all the b's, amino acid complex, DLPA, NADH, L-tyrosine, korean/panax ginseng, d-ribose, DHEA, coq10, samE, 5htp, gaba, omega 3 fish oil, garlic/cayene, acetyl-l-carnitine, spirulina, green tea extract. i get almost all of my supplements from puritans pride because they are the cheapest. i don't know if like liver, but it's very high in iron too.

Re: Can you take too many B vitamins?

You don't say how you are getting your B-12 daily. I am interested in the b-12 patch which supposedly get more B-12 into your system versus the liquid or pill form. Do you know which is better. Do you think the b12 helps greatly. Thanks for any ideas or thoughts you may have on it.

Re: Can you take too many B vitamins?

Thank you for your answer to my query. Do you know anything about the B-12 patch? I have heard that it is absorbed thru the skin and you get more B-12 into your system than with the pills. Also it is time released. Thanks,
Charlie
