Looking For a Supplement To Help Heel A Fractured Ankle

Hi!

Sure glad I found this site. I fractured my ankle May 1st and just started walking without crutches this weekend.

Do you know of a supplement I can take to help me heal me and help with swelling?

A friend recommended wobenzyme. Another suggested GH3. I was using a really good Chinese preparation which helps with circulation and pain called Zheng Gu Shui Analgestic Liniment. You put it on the injured site and it works for 3 to 4 hours but I ran out of it and it's not available where I live. I have to bug my sister in Vancouver for more.

But in the meantime, has anyone here tried a supplement for pain and swelling?

Well, calcium is critical for bone healing, and I've heard many good things about comfrey ointments, have in fact used one with unclear results. (eating comfrey is not recommended at all.)

Getting omega-3 fatty acids in your diet, either through food or supplements, can decrease pain and swelling, also.

How are you doing with PT? That's really the most important thing at this point, is exercise at the right pace. Not too much yet, but often.

I've had eight sessions of physio already and that's been really helpful. I take Omega 3 capsules and eat alot of fish as well. What kind of calcium supplement do you recommend?

Re: Looking For a Supplement To Help Heel A Fractured Ankle

Hello!
I see a lot of good advise here & am using most things mentioned for my shattered heel.
Other things i use are raw chunks of propolis, bee pollen & flax seed oil that are good for swelling, circulation & healing.

Sunshine, fresh air, raw vegi's & figs as well.

Thank you,
Carol

Thanks for all your suggestions. I tossed the crutches over the weekend and am back on my feet again...still shaky...but will probably be in for some "balancing" exercises in physio soon.

Kellibear, Carole

is there a name brand for what you recommend, sounds like a lot of ingredients.
