First I would try to find out if it really does anything. You'll need a lot of luck for that because, as you might already know, the FDA doesn't require any proof that supplements are effective for the stated purpose. You will see a statement to that effect on the back of the container.
Essentially, there's no scientific proof that I know of that CoQ10 will do anything. It pains me to say that because I have some in my refrigerator that I stopped taking about 2 years ago. I think if I keep it, it will remind me not to waste any more money on supplements.
Having said that, I do need one supplement and that is B12 because I don't eat any animal products. On that score, I'm in the same boat that you're in. I'm trying to find out if there's any certain supplement company that I can rely on for a good reliable product. No luck so far.
I hope I might be able to find out from the "Office of Dietary Supplements". I believe that office comes under the "National Instutite of Health". All I need is a toll free number.
