Hello,my name is Joy3.I just found this post site tonight and really read some good info on it.I was Dx with vit-d deficiency, level 17.I now take vit-d 50,000u weekly.I also take vit-b 12 injections monthly. The last time my Calcium level was checked,it was 10.7.This was several months before I was started on vit-d.My Ca+ level has not been rechecked. How can the vit-d affect my Ca+ level.I have been concerned about this. Thanks so much.Joy3
For starters, it is important to know which type of vitamin D you have been put on. If it is vitamin D2, then it is not a very good form. The body doesn't absorb vitamin D2 very well. Most of it passes uselessly through your system. Vitamin D3 is the best choice of vitamin D supplements (second to sunshine). The vitamin D and the calcium work together in the body. Vitamin D is a calcium regulator. The calcium is the true workhorse here. You do not want an imbalance of either. If you have an excess of vitamin D, the vitamin D will take calcium from where ever it can (bones) and put it to work in other parts of the body. If you have an excess of calcium, over time you could calcify your organs and other parts of the body. You might want to consult someone in the homeopathic field for proper testing and nutritional guidance.
