A week ago I started NatureMade Fish Oil capsules, 1200 mg. each with 320 mg. of Omega-3 acids. I've heard a great deal about them going rancid and mine have a slightly fishy smell. Tonight I moved them to the fridge because I understand that's how you should store them, but now I am wondering if the ones I bought are no good anymore. It says to store in a dry cool place, but I am thinking the best place for them might be the fridge. I haven't experienced any gassiness or fish burps so far, but I am really wondering whether the fish oil caps I've bought are any good or are going to be more harm than good. I understand that rancid fish oil caps can do more harm than good.
It leaves me wondering if ANY fish oil caps that you buy at the store are any good if they are sold on normal store shelves instead of a refrigerated area. How can you trust any of them that you buy? Is there any way of knowing?
Oh, and my fish oil caps have no anti-oxidants in them but I take NatureMade Multi For Her 50+ vitamins that have anti-oxidants for us 50-something women, so I am getting anti-oxidants in my vitamin supplement.
I'd really like a good straight up, no nonsense answer from someone who knows what they are talking about.
