Krill oil v. Omega 3 Differences & benifits of each

Krill oil

I have epilepsy , ataxia (affecting my balance speech & co-ordination) , oesteoporosis & stomach ulcers.

I have been hearing how Krill oil has more benifits than omega 3 fish oil (which I have been taking for years. Is this true & what are some of the "things" in a Krill oil supplement I should look for " . Also what makes are the best & are there some I should avoid ?

Thanks Craig

I use Omega Fish oil --3 -1000mgs caps daily from Carlson. I do it to help my memory and it works well.

I have used Krill Oil but it does not seem to work as well-- or maybe I was not talking enough.

I also take Mega Red krill oil because I worry about the Mercury in fish.
From what I understand krill is harvested from the arctic oceans where there is no danger of Mercury being in the Krill.

A nurse once told me, if I didn't like the fishy taste or after burps from Fish Oil capsules, to just keep the capsule bottle in the freezer.

It does work to prevent the fishy taste and after burbs.

Hi,
I have never heard of Krill-Oil and will look it up.
I take "Seven Seas Active 55 " Omega 3 fish-oil with vit D. It is high in Omega 3 and I find it does help the Arthritis in my fingers and shoulder. I have had stomach-ulcers but it has no adverse effect on that.
I believe a good high strength Omega 3 fish-oil is beneficial for Arthritis.

My understanding is that krill can degrade from too much moisture or heat. The recommendation for my Mercola Krill is not to refrigerate. I keep it in a cool cupboard.

I just checked the ingredients in both the Mercola Krill and the MegaKrill by Schiff. The Schiff Krill has 300 mg. Krill oil. The Mercola product 1000 mg. plus the important phospholipids among its other ingredients. Just thought I'd pass along this info.

You don't have to put Krill Oil in the freezer, it doesn't give you that fishy taste like Fish Oil does.

Re: Krill oil v. Omega 3 Differences & benifits of each

I take "Seven Seas Active 55" liquid fish-oil.
On the pkt it says "Omega 3 nutrients=2800mg of which EPA&DHA=2300mg. It also includes Vit D&E.
I take 2 teaspoons per day. This isnt Krill-Oil its Cod Liver Oil. I take this for Arthritis and find it helpful.
Does anyone know if its a good strength Fish-Oil.

Solofelix.
