What Supplement(s) Will Increase Dopamine Level?

I feeel I have a low dopamine level. It seems to especially drop off in the 2nd half of the day. I start out fine, then around 4 or 5 o'clock I seem to go downhill quickly. My mood drops, even after a great day. I let stressors kick in and sometimes cry.

I've heard L-Tyrosine can help. Where can I purchase this? And does anyone have any good or bad experiences with it's use?

Thanks so much!

Re: What Supplement(s) Will Increase Dopamine Level?

You can purchase L-Tyrosine at any health food store. I have never used it before so I can't comment. There are foods that will increase your low level of dopamine that you should consider such as seafood or take an Omega 3 Fish Oil Capsule. I like Krill Oil. Also, watermelon, apples, bananas, almonds, pumpkin seeds, yogurt and dark chocolate with at least 70% cocoa and also B Vitamins are very important.

What will decrease dopamine is stress, certain anti depressants, poor nutrition, alcohol, caffeine and sugar.

Re: What Supplement(s) Will Increase Dopamine Level?

Hi, I've been using L-tyrosine for about a week now and have to say it's been great, it's increased my energy levels and I feel mored focused and less stressy. I have underactive thyroid and my local healthfood shop recommended these to me, they're great (I'm taking about 1500mg a day), don't think you notice a difference if you take any less - but then everyone's needs are different. Good luck!
