This is my first post in this forum, so i have no idea if I am in the right category or not.
I am a sufferer of Minor thalassemia and obviously have been all my life. I know that with this genetic disease we tend to store more iron than the average person, however I have recently embarked on a superfood vitamin called "spiralina" and I am really really keen on taking it, as I feel I am lacking in many of the vitamins it offers. Iron is obviously one of the vitamins it contains, which is why I have come to you for advice.
I read somewhere that we cannot take more than 18mg of iron a day.
Will taking Spiralina poison my blood because of its iron content?
Please if ANYONE can help, it would be great. I prefer to speak with people like you guys rather than doctors, because doctors these days dont seem to know much.
