Cool Taking mixed vitamins/supplements... harm or help?

Because I found out I have high cholesterol...I am talking these now (besides exercise - 20 mins or til i sweat., and watch my diet - mostly fish, little chicken and pork)

Morning/Night - 1 - multi-vitamins chewable, cinnamon powder with honey (skip weekend)
Breakfast - 1 fish oil omega 360mg, 1 flaxseed oil 450 mg (skip weekend)
Snack - Mixed Nuts, then 1 green tea extract daily (skip weekend)
Lunch - 1 or 2 fish oil 360 or 720mg (if fish is the meal, i only take one), 1 garlic pill (1000 mg), 1 ginger root extract (550mg), 1 600mg red yeast rice
Dinner - 1 or 2 fish oil 360 or 720m (if fish is the meal, i only take one), 1 garlic pill (1000 mg), 1 ginger root extract (550mg), 2 600mg red yeast rice, 1 coq-10 - 100mg

daily (except weekend) - add some soluble fiber into water, tea - 4 tbl spoons.

It will be long time before my next check up...

Since garlic pill and ginger root are mostly for cooking, i guess they are fine to take it daily... not sure about mixing flaxseed oil and fish oil (since both are for omega 3) and RYR (both are for lower cholesterol)

What do you think my supplements? due to the fact, I don't really take them to the max (for example RYR recommended 2400mg or 4 pills daily, I take max 3) , i just mixed them .. would I still get the best result.? or this is bad.. if bad, why? your input....

If you are eating properly, exercising and have not had tests to show you have deficiencies why do you need to take more than a multivitamin?

Re: Taking mixed vitamins/supplements ... harm or help?

Well, the reason for supplement is because individual intake is different. Some people can absorb vitamins from food easier than others. Perhaps, in my case, I need supplement because I didn't really eat a lot of red meat before check up, it is more than just heretic for bad cholesterol. It is how I adsorb the good stuff from food. Someone it didn't pass through my system. I guess many people take supplements or vitamins for the same reason.

You did not read my post properly

Did your doctor test you for iron and B vitamin deficiencies?

If you have not been tested and found to be deficient then don't take more than a multi-vitamin with associated minerals.

Taking too many supplements is not healthy as not all vitamins and minerals are water soluble.
For example iron isn't water soluble so too much builds up in the body causing fatigue and joint pain at best, and things like liver damage at worse. This is more likely to happen in men and post-menopausal women.

Even excess of the water soluble vitamins which you lose in your urine daily can cause problems. For example too much vitamin B5 can cause acne.
