I've noticed that I am experiencing a very dry mouth (cotton mouth) the past few days...is this from ketosis or from the vitamins I'm taking?? Any ideas? I'm drinking a ton of water so it's not that I'm dehydrated....TIA!
Are you sure you aren't dehydrated? The best way to know is to look at the color of your urine. If its a pale yellow color, then you're good. If its darker, you need more fluids, if its lighter you need fewer fluids.
Something else might be your sodium and potassium levels? Many of the foods I see people talking about eating are high in sodium so you might have upset this balance. The only food I know of that is high in potassium is bananas though and you cannot have that. Maybe an Atkins dieter would have input on this.
No way could I be dehydrated....I'm drinking between 75-100 oz a day!! My pee is very light and during the day I go very often!! I really notice the dry mouth at night (I try to stop drinking water around 8 so I'm not up ALL night...and in the morning when I wake up...I am very parched!
So, you're dehydrated then. =) I realize that you drink a lot throughout the day, but your body fasts at night. It gets no food and no water. Isn't your first pee of the morning darker than any other throughout the day?
I think the diet probably contributes and you might want to consider the amount of sodium that you take in, but really its just your body's way of screaming at you to start drinking water again in the morning.
And you probably notice it more because you're so well-hydrated throughout the rest of the day.
