Hydroxycut also contains the stimulant ephedra, and for this reason, its impossible to say whether or not its truly "safe". Ephedra has been linked with thousands of complaints to the CDC of side effects from headaches to death of seemingly healthy individuals. I highly recommend that you check with your doctor before taking a supplement containing ephedra; esp. if you have a family history of heart problems or stroke.
If you choose to take it and to forgo the appointment with the doctor, start with a lower dose than the recommended maximum and pay close attention to how your body reacts. If you feel any discomfort, discontinue use immediately.
(As an aside, and I realize this doesn't really pertain to your question, but ... You don't really have to "diet" to lose weight. In fact, "dieting" is probably the worst thing you can do. Instead, you want to focus on making small changes to your current lifestyle that you are comfortable with in the long run. One of the most effective changes to make is to simply start an exercise routine. Anther easy changes are to switch from regular to diet soda and to add more water. Don't feel like a failure, because you aren't a failure. The dieting industry only makes money if you fail.)
Good luck!
