Red face after you cheat...

What do y'all do after you have cheated on your diet, pigged out on Snickers, stuffed yourself full of peanut butter sandwiches, or the like? How do you handle it mentally? Is there anything you do to make yourself feel physically less gross? It happens to just about all of us, I reckon -- what is your coping mechanism?

I guess it is a mindset, but I never look at anything as "cheating"... I eat healthy most of the time but I allow myself an indulgence every once in a while... I guess my body is never deprived this way, so I never go on a real binge and "cheat"... I think you have to eat healthy the majority of the time but you have to allow yourself a treat here and there, moderation is the key... life is too short to never have a snickers bar!!!! LOL!

I just shake it off and do another half-hour of running that day. It's better than say, skipping dinner or something.

When you do break and have a binge, try to have things that are to some degree healthy. I am on the Atkins and tonight I really wanted some chocolate so I found a really good low carb chocolate cheesecake mousse- it was soo good that I could hardly finish my serving. My husband even loved it!!!

Just do your homework ahead of time and find things you can make or buy for your particular diet.

I used to get thrown way off track....but now I realised...well it's happened so what's the point of agonizing over it. I'm stressed enough as it is, and u can't change the past. Just learn from it. I figured out that with the junk I just ate, if I'm good for the rest of the week...maybe I'll still lose a little, or just stay the same....and if I'd done that all the other times I tried to be healthy, then I wouldn't have the additional 50lbs from giving up when I hit a rut.

You pick yourself right back up and go on with life and your diet. I don't try to make anything up like with extra exercise. I just go forward from there. I think the key to success in a diet is allowing yourself a daily treat or snack so you don't feel like you are dieting. A daily portion of fat should be allowed. I eat like one small snickers bar a day or some chocalate chips or small piece of choc cake. That way I don't feel like I am cheating and I get my daily choc in. I am still managing to loose weight doing this. The important thing is what you are eating for breakfast lunch and supper.
