I'd really like to drop about 10lbs, mainly because my friend is coming down to visit me in late July & I want to look ok.
So far, the only way I've ever lost weight before was by not eating breakfast or lunch at school & the 1st time I tried it, I lost 3lbs. in less than a week.
However, I'm not the type of person to go bulimic or anorexic; in fact, I can't make myself throw up & I'm not so obsessed w/ my weight that I'd starve myself purposely for a long time & endanger my health.
I suppose that's a good thing though.
I'd just like to drop a few pounds so I would feel better about myself.
So I've been thinking; if I were to work out on my treadmill for 30 minutes a day & watching what & how much I eat, is it possible that I can lose up to 10lbs. by late July?
I'm not doing this because of my friend, but I would certainly be happier if I could lose even a small amount of weight.
Could anyone please tell me what I might can expect?
Thanx
i think its completely possible! just eat RIGHT and drink a bunch, i mean a bunch of water, drink it until you think you're going to start floating!and exercise, exercise, exercise! good luck to you!....Mtn.
It will likely depend on how much you weigh in the first place. If you are close to your ideal weight, then it would be nearly impossible to lose 10lbs in one month as you would have to nearly starve to create a calorie deficit.
hey, thanks for all your advice guys.
unfortunately, my parents can't afford to really eat healthy, you know & I'd like to get a good multivitamin but no money.
I found a really good one-a-day from twinlab that I like.
It makes me really sick if I drink a lot of water but I'm gonna try to drink more of it because I normally just drink chocolate milk all the time.
I don't drink near as much coke as I used to, barely any anymore, but sometimes I just have to have some.
Actually, I probably need to lose more than 10lbs. but for me, it's a good starting range & I don't really think I'm that close to my ideal weight.
I'm 5'8, 145lbs. but I'd like to get down to 120 or so but not all at once.
so, is 30 minutes brisk walking enough work a day or should I do more?
I don't have any weights & there's no gym around where I live.
TonyTone- how did you lose so much weight so fast?
Were you close to your ideal weight or were you kinda far away?
I wish I could lose that much so fast..
Well, when I lost 20 pounds in a month, I was in pretty good shape then. I had gained some weight and needed to drop a few excess pounds for baseball practice. It was easy, because I was in shape then.
Just recently I went from 225 to to 210. I basically watched my carb and sugar intake. I excersiced 7 days a week.
Monday, sit ups, crunches, leg raises, push ups,and I would work a lot with 20 pound dumb bells.
Tuesday I played basketball from 2-4 hours.
Wensday, the same excersice as Monday.
Thursday, I would run a mile.
Friday I would do the same excersices as Monday and Wensday.
Saturday and Sunday I would run a mile each day.
I was surprised with my results. I haven't been doing it as much, because I have been sick, and actually gained five pounds back. I couldn't excersice, and I forgot to stick to my diet.
Did you ever here of the Mayo Clinic DIet? You can lose up to 12 lbs in 12 day. It is not expencive, all you need to eat is foods like bacon, eggs, meats, vegatables salads, drink greatfruit juice, and LOTS of water (a half a gallon a day). If you want the diet plan let me know. I am going to start it on Monday. I will let you know how I am going. I am also having friends come down at the end of June, and going away in JUly, I also want to loose weight by then. Good luck!

hey ML84
were you talking to me or tonytone?
If you were addressing me, then yes, I'd love to know about it. : )
sounds pretty cool
1 thing though; I've never had any kind of salad before in my life & my parents never get any.. is it good?
I like veggies tho & I don't eat a lot, but my metabolism isn't very fast, very different from my mom & brother; I mainly just eat cereal, soup & chocolate milk.
I'm probably major vitamin-deficient..
I don't have a lot of energy, a bit sluggish I guess
but even if you weren't talking to me, can you still tell me more about it anyway?
thanks : )
I've been losing ten pounds a month for over 3 months.
i will say the thinner you are the slower ti comes off. If you only need to lose 10 pounds total to be at your goal weight, you'll have to exercise a lot and keep calories under 1200.
You must drink eight 8oz. glasses of water daily (64 oz. total per day).
At any meal you may eat until you are full.
You must eat the minimum listed at each meal.
You cannot eliminate anything from the diet. Especially the bacon at breakfast and the salads. You must eat the bacon and salads. These combinations of food burn the fat, omitting one part of the combination will cause the whole thing not to work.
The grapefruit or fruit juice is important because it acts as a catalyst that starts the burning process. Don't add or reduce the amount of grapefruit or juice.
Cut down on coffee, it affects the insulin balance that hinders the burning process. Try to limit to 1 cup at meal time.
Don't eat between meals. If you eat the suggested foods you will not get hungry.
You can fry food in butter and use butter generously on vegetables.
Do not eat desserts, breads, and white vegetables or sweet potatoes.
You may double or triple helpings of meat, salad or vegetables.
Eat until you are stuffed. The more you eat the more weight you will lose.
Stay on the diet 12 days, then stop the diet for 2 days and repeat.
Diet Plan:
Breakfast:
Either 1/2 grapefruit OR 8 oz. juice (unsweetened)
2 eggs any style
2 slices of bacon
Lunch:
Either 1/2 grapefruit OR 8 oz. juice (unsweetened)
Salad with any dressing
Meat any style and any amount.
Dinner:
Either 1/2 grapefruit OR 8 oz. juice (unsweetened)
Salad with any dressing OR a red or green vegetable cooked in butter or spices.
Meat or even Fish any style cooked any way.
Coffee or Tea (1 cup)
Bedtime Snack:
8oz. glass of tomato juice or 8 oz cup of skim milk.
Things you May NOT Have are on the top Things You May Have are on the bottom...
White onions
Red onions
Potatoes
bell peppers
Celery
Radishes
Peas
Broccoli
Cereal
Cucumbers
Corn
Carrots
Starchy vegetables

Hi Mandy
I'm a 16yr. old girl, 5'8", 145lbs.
I guess my ideal weight would be 120-125lbs.
I don't drink coffee but I can do the water
I have a few ?'s though;
So, I absolutely cannot have any breads, soup or cereal?
I mean, do I have to eat only EXACTLY what this says?
cuz I hate any kind of onions & peppers & I've never had a salad, cabbage, cole slaw or even grapefruit juice (does that taste bad?)
but I guess there's a 1st time for everything.
I really don't want to eat the onions though
For the last 2 days, I've been working out 30 minutes on my treadmill on an incline, so is that ok?
thanks
Koden, You do not have to eat the onions or peppers, you are not allowed white onion coliflower, or basically any white potatos. You HAVE to have the greatfruit juce, but you prob not like it. It is very sour and bitter. So you might want to drink it fast. You can not have a ny cerials, pasta, bread, ect. You should exercise a little more. Do diffrent exercises for diffrent parts of you body. If you have anymore questions I am happy to help you!

Hey Koden.... okay, sounds like you are pretty young and now is the time to start getting into healthy eating habits (it gets tougher the older you get)... first off, sounds like you drink alot of chocolate milk and eat alot of cereal... chocolate milk is horrible for you. Although it is good, you really should not make it a food group... same with most cereals. Too much sugar. Try increasing your water intake, add some fresh lemon, makes it taste better and helps act as a diuretic. Now is not the time for "fad diets", as they really set you up for a lifetime of yo-yo dieting. If you start early, you can lose the weight and maintain it by getting used to a healthy lifestyle. Try eating lean meats, fish, chicken, turkey, lots of leafy veggies... try to avoid potatoes, white breads, white pastas, sugar, most snacks, etc. Learn to love salads! LOL!!!! Try to eat healthy salads as well (many fast food salads are loaded with fat)... 10 lbs in a month can be done BUT unless you do it healthy, you will probably gain it back, and then some. Try getting some resistance/weight training into your workouts. You can use anything that weighs a couple of pounds to start (heck, use veggie cans to do curls, etc.) Walk up and down stairs, do push ups, any sort of resistance training will help. You can get resistance bands for pretty cheap at walmart. Good luck and keep us posted!
Hi guys
I got really busy the other day & I totally forgot I had posted a question on this board.
I forget things very easily sometimes.
Anyway, I have 2 5lb. weights so I'm gonna start using them & someone recommended that I do that while walking on my treadmill, so that'll be a good workout.
I changed my exercise routine so I've been doing 15min. 2x daily- 5min. slow, 5min. fast, 5min.slow & riding a stationary bike for 20min. w/ resistance.
I know chocolate milk is bad for you, but I've had it every day since 3rd grade & while I was able to almost totally stop drinking sodas, I don't think I can stop drinking chocolate milk, I'm just too hooked on it.
I try not to drink too much & I've been upping my water intake but I probably have gallstones or something from all the milk.
I'm also trying to eat healthy, but I've read some bad things about the Mayo Diet, & won't I just gain it all back again?
It sounds like it's just a really temporary fast weight-loss diet, & even though I would like to lose weight that fast, it doesn't seem very healthy over-all.
My parents don't really think it sounds healthy either & I can't do squat b/c they buy the foods.
I also don't think I'm the type of person to keep going on diets b/c I'm really not too concerned w/ it, I'd just like to lose some weight so I'd feel better about myself as a whole.
I do like to eat fish though & I thought white potatoes were good for you since they're a vegetable.
I don't mind vegetables at all, except okra, spinach, brussels sprouts, yams, onions & peppers.
I don't really like celery either but I'll eat it.
Unfortunately, I think most or all of the veggies I get come in my Chunky beef vegetable soup that I eat & I don't get to eat that all the time.
well gotta go now
Thanks for all your advice : )
well to start off im going to say that it IS possible...i love 30lbs in 2 weeks.... well it made me sick but i did it...so yes it is possible....GOOD LUCK.....
