Question excersise before bedtime?

is excersise before going to bed bad for you in any way? thanx

It is harder to get to sleep... of course, it is better to do cardio first thing in the morning on an empty stomach, but exercise is exercise... do it when you can! I exercise first thing in the morning and again in the evening... it certainly doesnt HURT!! Good luck!

for me excercising before bed is awesome...i still have all energy from earlier in the day and i just go to the gym, wear myself out with approximately two hours worth of cardio...get back, shower, eat something small *i'm not a big eater as it is* and i sleep like a baby...

but like goin' cruisin' said...excercsise, at any time, is good for you...much better than doing nothing at all...so if you want to workout at night, go for it...

I had understood that exercise in the morning is better because your metabolism is raised for several hours instead of being forced back down when we go to sleep as when you exercise at night. Don't know if that is right, at any rate it works better for me to excercise at night. I just can't seem to get up early enough and then motivate myself to work out while half asleep. So for now anyway, its exercise at night or not at all.

If your goal is weight loss, than any exercise isn't necessarily better than none. If you exercise at night, there's a good chance you're not burning stored fat. Second, the real value of exercise is that it raises your metabolism so that you're burning afterwards. But if you go to sleep soon after exercise, you won't get the metabolism-raising benefits. From that standpoint, I think exercise before bedtime is a bit of a waste, at least if you're trying to lose weight.
