tomatoes are great, all berries are great, especially strawberries and blueberries. avocadoes (yes, they are a fruit) are great b/c of the "good" fat they have in reducing your bad cholesterol. Also a good source of fiber. Apples are wonderful for fiber. Bananas are good for potassium and cramping (all kinds, not just menstrual). Be careful of fruits that dehydrate you...watermelon, cucumbers, etc. They are natrual diuretics. Don't neglect your veggies! All dark green and/or leafy veggies have lots of iron--so many women are anemic/deficient b/c we lose iron once a month.
You gals know your stuff! Yes, most berries are great and lower in carbs (especially blueberries) with tons of nutrients. I didn't know that about watermelon & other melons. I eat them occasionally but not often. Watch out for bananas. Though they are high in potassium they're also high in sugar (but aren't they just yummy?!!!) Eat them occassionally. Mmmm with peanut butter. O.k. I'll stop slobbering now. I haven't had fruit in a while (atkins) but will be starting up again (slowly) in 1 week.
