Question a question about what happens if you do lose weight

if you do lose weight, is there still some extra skin? i thought it would just go away...
i hate to do surgery to get rid of the extra skin, i just wanna get firm, not extra-skinned

Hi Jenn, I dont think it goes away. I guess it depends on how much weight a person loses. I wish it would go away. guess you would have to work on that area.
I bought weights. just light ones. 3 lbs each. will firm up the arms atleast.
sorry I couldnt be much help on that.

It mostly depends on how much you have to lose whether extra skin would be a problem. I can only go by me. I lost 35 and don't have extra skin. The skin on my stomach is a little loose but there isn't any extra and also, I don't exericse. I'm middle aged which I think might add to an extra skin problem as you lose elasticity with age.

My friend, who had gastric bypass, went from a little under 400 to 190. She is having surgery next year to get rid of the extra skin on her stomach. It's pricey. Just to do her stomach costs $7000. They want $4000 to do her arms. She's also middle aged.

I think that it also matters whether you've always been heavy. I haven't always been heavy. I gained it all in about 3-4 years. I was always thin before that.
I'd think you'd have more of an extra skin problem if you've always been heavy.

Question

well im 15 and im about 5"2 and i weight about 115, im not really overweight or anything, just a bit fat, but as a child i wasn't fat though, i started to gain weight when i became 12, and when i was 13 i weighted the most, anyway do you think that if i get a flat tummy and everything cuz i exercise now, i'd still have the extra skin?

I thought you actually HAD a weight problem.

No, at 15 and only weighing 115, you won't have any extra skin.

Hunny, I'm 5'3" and 138lbs. I'm short too! My pediatrician told me I'm at a healthy weight, but 120lbs. would be the perfect weight with my height. YOU ARE NOT FAT for your height. I'm sure if you just exercise a bit and watch what you eat, you'll tone up and look great. Don't try to lose any weight, your perfect where you are!

OK, So you are 15 and are 5 ' 2 and weigh 115.Well first off you are not over weight the least bit,and as far as worring about excess skin well, you don't need to loose any weght!! But if you are going for that flat tummy, then your best bet is to just firm it up with excersise(weight tranning).People who have lost a very significant amount of weight, as alot do if they undergo the Gastric Bypass Surgery for morbid obestiy, then these people will deffinately have to have the skin removed at some point, but alot of the time insurances will pay for it because it is a side effect of the surgery. I ope this helps you,but it sounds like you may just need to exercise, your skin is very plaiable at this stage and it will bounce back, unlike peoples who have been obese most of their lives.Hope this helps!
