CLA is not an appetite supressent. CLA is an non-essential fatty acid which is found in dairy and meat products. It helps prevent weight gain and helps to increase lean muscle growth. It also
helps diabetics control sugar levels
has anti carcinogenic properties
acts as an anti oxidant
encourages muscle growth
accelerates fat weight loss
reduces the incidence of heart disease
helps improves and enchances the immune system
helps improve cholesterol levels.
The only side effects are upset stomach and diarrhea.
So to answer your question about the differences, appetite depressants are usually stimulants with caffiene or like ingredients that play around with your metabolism.
If you want immediate results then forget CLA because it could take a month or so to see any results. I have ordered a liquid CLA that should arrive any day now, I can't wait to try it. I would NEVER try a diet pill as they give more problems than they solve, and are very unhealthy for people.
Thanks a lot, girlygirly, for your reply. It was very informative and helped answer a lot of questions. I am thinking about giving it a try.
I walk every single day 30 - 45 minutes. I have now added weightlifting and floor exercises. I want to try the CLA - but yet I am still so hungry and am having a very hard time trying to stick to weight watchers (actually I am not doing well at WW at all, but trying).
Hi there: Grirly Girl--I have never heard of CLA having stomach upset OR diahrrea as a side effect?? I hae taken it for a year now and NEVER had that? I read a lot up on it and have never seen that anywhere, except one saying it was rare for that to happen in their study.

I only mentioned that those are the only known side effects. It doesn't mean that everyone will get them, most won't.I was trying to point out how safe the supplements are.
As far as weight watchers goes, I tried it once and I was always hungry. It did not give you enough to eat.(I aded up the calories and it about 1000). Why don't you multiply your weight by 15, that is what it takes to maintain your current weight. Then multiply your weight by 10, that should be your goal, unless it falls below 1200 calories. Do not eat any less than 1200 calories or you will go into starvation mode. Good Luck.
Re: CLA pills vs. diet (appetite suppressant) pills????
Ive taken CLA for many months. The results........well, Im not sure that it has provided results, but definitely helped out along the lines of dieting. In that , I mean that the CLA has probably provided extra or added benefits to my dieting and exercise. The stomach and diarrhea thing are a definite side effect. For me anyway. More so diarrhea than stomach issues.

conjugalated linoleic acid
it helps support lean musle, and its the good fatty acid. has many other benefits too. I read recently that B12 vits are good to enhance the diet pill and gives added energy.
Re: CLA pills vs. diet (appetite suppressant) pills????
Robbit, was just wondering if CLA was the only product you are taking for your weight loss. I walk everyday and I have a gazelle machine I use also. I heard it was good for helping with muscle tightness, I didn't realize it could help with weight loss.
Re: CLA pills vs. diet (appetite suppressant) pills????
I use CLA every day. sometimes my stomach bothers me ,but i also use fat and carb blockers. I think it has helped my stomach reduce. I like it alot. i just started taking coconut oil too, too soon to tell how it works!
Re: CLA pills vs. diet (appetite suppressant) pills????
I was thinking of taking this with caffeine free hydrxycut. Dunno. How much should someone take a day, and how often. Is a before or after meal type thing. Ot take after a work out. Or whenever you feel like it?
