Question Lose Weight

Hi, I am currently 16 years old, 5-6 179 lbs(mostly fat). Do you think I should worry about my weight at this age, or just wait till I am done growing. I am worried that I may stunt my growth if I go on a diet now.

Personally...I'd say lose some weight now. You don't neccessarily have to diet, just exersize. Go for walks a few times a week. And maybe just watch what you eat a little. Honestly, it seems to me the older you get the harder it is to lose the weight. I'm not saying that goes for everybody, it's just my personal opinion. When I was in high school I could easily lose 30 pounds over a 3 month period just by walking about a 1/2 a mile every day. I didn't even watch what I ate. You don't have to listen to what I say, I'm just putting my 2 cents in...

Don't go on a 'diet', but do some sort of exercise everyday and cut out junk food from your diet. Eat more fruits and veggies. You should lose weight easily at this age with some effort. Also drink lots and lots of water and cut out soda or switch to diet. Diet does taste nasty at first, but after a while you won't know the difference.

Thanks for the replys, I think one of the reasons I got overweight is all the fatty foods and sodas in the school cafe. For excercise, instead of driving a mile to school, I am going to walk there. Also, do you think I should lift weights, because I heard that can stunt your growth too. Let me know

You shouldn't do excessive weight lifting like a body builder but it doesn't hurt to do resistance training with light weights... and the best thing you can do is cut out the "crap" that you have identified as being problematic... pop, chips, and other junk food- I bet taht alone will make a difference!
