| Re: Im GIVING UP!!!
Hard but true as Sebum says. Dont think being 15 makes it harder than if you were older either. We old'uns have to face the same thing if we want to lose the bodyfat and keep our curves.
Life is not fair...it just "is". What you learn is adapt and overcome. You are on a journey to a better life and overcoming obstacles is part of it. It is not so much the goal at the end of it but what we learn along the way.
Patience is not just for the old...we have to learn this too. Time is not always on our side but we have to learn to make better use of what we have left. I am 52 and spent a year and a half dropping 62lbs of bodyfat after being 245lbs (and more at times) for most of my 33 years of marriage. Was never thin as a teen and was "hefty" at 165 at 5'6"/largeboned when I was. All I did for exercise then was riding a 10 speed and heavy yardwork at home with my mother. It kept me pretty fit despite a messup diet. (rarely ate and would the wrong things when I did)
Staying determined and motivated is the same for both. I learned this the hard way after being 245 for so many years. Tried all sorts of fad diets with no results. Figured life was always against me losing any of the pounds. Finally at 50, I just plain got sick and tired of being this way. Losing flexibility, could not sleep on my back, getting out of the car and moving around was getting harder. Took a good look at all the older snowbirds hobbling around with age related injuries caused by bad diets and lack of exercise. Seeing myself in them if I continued down the smoother road.
No way, got good and motivated. Took a year's worth of a college Women's Strength classes (lifting)....changed my diet to a better one and started losing some bodyfat and inches. Found I liked lifting weights and the empowerment it gave me as a woman who can be strong, mentally and physically. Lost 62lbs of bodyfat and gain abit of muscle this way. Finally got down to premarriage clothes sizes, feel alot better and got my flexibility back. Better health overall too. I am 175lbs now and LIKE myself.
Took me all those years to learn a few simple things...as hard as that sounds. You have youth and if nothing else...remember this:
"Mind only knows what lies near the heart;
It alone knows the depths of the soul;
Nor worse ill assails the wise than to be
Without inner peace." (Havamal, Poetic Edda, Viking Age)
That which does not kill us,
Makes us stronger.
So stay determined, learn patience, keep motivated and give yourself time. You have the last one.....now go take the first three to heart. Come here for encouragement and advice. Go look through the web and educate yourself. Find out all those "Female myths" about lifting (or other good hard execise) is just that. Trash.
Stick with it and you will achieve your goal.
