Oh, most definitely! Apparently water helps to 'up' your metabolism rate and eating breakfast kicks it in. In fact, I didn't start to finally lose weight until I started eating breakfast. I don't eat a LOT, mind you, usually just a bowl of cheerios or a bowl of oatmeal or some other hot grain cereal or scrambled egg whites and a piece of whole wheat toast or, if I'm not in the mood to eat or I just don't have time for breakfast, I'll grab a Slimfast.
Overnight your body goes into a 'starvation' mode (for lack of a better way to describe it) and your metabolism slows to conserve energy and hold onto your reserves. When you wake up in the morning and eat something, your metabolism kicks back in. Also, it's been shown, that people on a lowfat/low calorie diet who eat breakfast lose more weight than people on a lowfat/low calorie diet who DON'T eat breakfast.
