This cannot be from excercise alone. Only a VERY stringent (and possibly unhealthy) diet would result in such dramatic results. Even Optifast, a complete doctor-monitored fasting program, doesn't typically exceed 5 lbs per week. It is possible that a person could be retaining 10-15lbs of water weight that could come off in the first week or two of a diet, but I would be curious to know how the other 15-20 lbs came off so quickly.
