How to loose weight safely.

hello, i'm a 16 year old female and this is the first time i've posted here but i've posted in the thyroid area...i've had a goiter and just reastenly been dianosed with hypothyroidism....for a 16 year old girl i weigh a embarresing 220-40 pounds ...i just had a doctors appt. and i realize how much trouble i am in because i also got diagnosed with borderline diabetics and with high blood pressure (this all deals with my weight)....also this week i've started skipping my lunch everyday...i mean i still eat some supper and all so its fine....but i thought this might be a good place to ask about any GREAT diet plans or a way i can REALLY loose weight...i would really love to get down to 150-170 pounds by march which is when i'll be having my jr. prom. please help me.

I'm sorry, I'm right there with you. Did your Dr talk to you about loosing weight? No fad diets, pills, or meal plans are really going to help in the long run. You might loose weight at first, but as soon as you stop those things the weight will go right back on. Skipping meals will not help you, and infact it will store anything you eat as fat. You must learn to use food to give your body nutrition, and excercise. It's so hard, I know. I have my own struggles and food issues. I'm giving advice I can't follow myself right now. Please talk to your Dr. Take a nutrition class. Join a gym. I know, it sounds alot easier than it is. Good luck!

My advice hon is to find a good dietician, ask your doctor for a referral, a dietician can help you set up a healthy meal plan, help you learn to keep a food journal and go over your eating habits with the understanding and compassion of your illness too and also will moniter your weight and can help you with exercise and getting into a good exercise program or referring you! I agree with what others have said, fad diets are not going to help, in the long run they just make you gain more and cause even more health probs!! I hope this helps!!

I also suggest seeing a dietician. Most endocrinologists have one in there office. It is really important to eat small meals and atleast 5-6 times a day, water, and exercise. Please, do not start of by skipping meals not only is it going to be bad for your blood sugar but can also start causing an eating disorder and not to mention severe depression. Please, do this safely and the weight you lose if consistant will stay off.

Thanx guys....i just don't know what to do....i'm just so sick of all this weight...i just wanna loose it and get it down...lol...who knows......i think i'll just eat the 3 small meals...and instead of not eating lunch i'll just stick to only salads...thats a little better...if you would pray for me over the thanksgiving holiday i would appritiate it...thank you guys so much for everything..
