what about fruit?

I won't go into my current challenge right now cause I already have a post, but I had a question. I never used to eat much fruit, not b/c I didn't like it, but b/c I knew it had sugar in it and I never ate much sugar. Since I quit smoking, I am craving it more. BUT, I am eating a lot of fruit, probably four servings a day:
Banana in am
fruit yogurt am
Prunes and dried apricots for afternoon snack
apples with peanut butter at night

I found out apples and bananas have about 27g of sugar, I think the dried fruit is about the same. ANyone know off hand how much sugar is TOO much? I also know there are two kinds of sugar, one is bad the other, well, better. Sucrose and fructose. The first is the bad, the second is the natural and I know it gets used better, but sugar is sugar and it will get stored. Should I cut the fruit out of my diet? Am I eating too many a day? I don't always eat all of them everyday, just depends on what I have at the time and when My last trip to the store was (yesterday, fully stocked now). I gained 15 pounds in two months and now am trying to lose it. I am working out and eating well for the most part, this is just one thing I am not sure about. On the fence if you will.
Thanks for any input! (I will probably ask my dr on thurs, but I'd still like to hear what you all think)

I would say watch how much peanut butter you use. A little goes a long way. Fruit is great for you. Your body can NOT tell the diffrence in sugar(s). It is just fruit has all the nutrients your body will need and LOW calories and LOT OF FIBER. Sugar from junk has high calories and little to no nutrients.
Apples are great because there are many kinds and they are high in fiber which keeps you fuller longer. Good job keep up the good work.

I don't care what these special diets say, I eat as much fruit as I want. Fruit is good for you and if you are exercising and watching what you eat, you will lose weight. Keep eating that fruit!

Try sticking with low sugar fruits and low GI fruits. Apples and bananas are the worst, the better fruits are all berries (strawberry, blueberry, raspberry), cantaloupe, nectarines, grapefruits. Some people can handle fruits better than others, I try to stick with 2 servings a day, mostly strawberries and cantaloupe. If you see that you are not losing or gaining weight than you have to try cutting a little out.

thank you! Don't know yet what I will do, but I will try to keep servings in mind. I know that as long as I don't go over calories and I watch sugar intake, I should be okay. I do keep an eye on the peanut butter, as a tablespoon has 190 calories. Anyhoo, gonna keep working out and so forth and maybe just cut down the number of servings I have a day? Def better than getting that snickers bar for some sugar though, that is for sure!
