dieting + beer = bad

im 21 male 5'9 and 205....well i had a nice diet going. over about 4 weeks i dropped about 7 lbs (got down to 200lbs from 207). then i went on spring break in panama city, drank about 10 beers a day, gained every bit of the weight back. it was awesome at the time but now i hate myself for it. since ive been back, im back to the 1600 calories a day not drinking any beer, all water, and im not seeing any effects on the scale. ive been 205 for about 5 days now. i sit on my *** all day, ive been going to the driving range a couple times a week just to improve my game and get out from behind the desk. according to all these calorie counters, i should be consuming about 2500 calories a day with my height and weight and sedentary lifestyle. so why am i not losing weight???

here is my daily menu
breakfast: i pkg blueberry mini muffins (250 calories)
lunch: ham and cheese hot pocket (310 calories)
snack: chips and salsa (300 calories)
dinner: 2 slices of pepperoni pizza (approx 700 calories)

and all i drink is water. no soda or alcohol.

what am i doing wrong? i know all these foods are fairly high in fat, but they are also filling and im not exceeding 1600 calories a day. shouldnt i be losing weight? or is it the fat in these foods keeping that from happening??

Re: dieting + beer = bad

First, don't feel bad about gaining weight on your vacation. A lot of people diet before a vacation so that they can relax and eat what they want for a few days. Think of it as "paying in advance."

As for your current diet, it's obviously worked for you before, so stick with it...sort of. I think the reason that your scale isn't registering a weight-loss may be because your diet is totally lacking in roughage. In fact, your menu is one long list of constipating foods. In other words, you've probably lost fat but it won't register on your scale until nature calls.

Do you think you could swap that package of blueberry muffins for a bowl of Raisin Bran with non-fat milk? And how 'bout adding some green pepper to those pizzas? Broccoli is delicious with those ham and cheese hot pockets, and it's only 15 calories for half a cup (I buy it frozen in a bag and microwave it with the Hot Pocket). And be sure to drink LOTS of water.

Re: dieting + beer = bad

Beer is not good for the body. I am a 20 year old college student myself and attend one of the top five party schools in the nation, where every other girl I see has a 'beer-belly.' The students here are in terrible shape! It's considered normal to have a chunkball-belly here. I'm glad you came to your senses and were able to recognize beer as part of the problem.

I think the other part of the problem is that you aren't working out. That would make a difference and you know it. Of course, most of us don't enjoy doing it though. You'd feel much better if you got in a routine though. I'm sure you know some gym-buffs in college that you could go work out with? If not, try buying an exercise tape you can do in the privacy of your own room.

Dude your diet needs a total makeover. Those foods are so high in fat. Your body does not have to go to your fat sorage to get energy because you keep just putting more in. Yes the calories are kinda low but with that much sat and trans fat availiable your body is simply maintaing.
How about a few changes at first. Like B-fast the cereal is good with soy or skim milk.

Maybe add a fruit as a snack like a apple. High fiber and it will keep you fuller longer. Good luck.

Re: dieting + beer = bad

m not sure about this but i think 21 male 5'9 .With looking at your menu. You must feel starved? And if a body feels starved , then the body will hold onto the weight. Try eating meat potatoes and veggies for supper. You will feel more full and changing your eating habits too. I love pizza and chips with salsa but I am planning on eatting those once a week as a weekend treat. If I am correct they are the kinds of food to avoid to much of too.
