I prefer the digital but depending on how well made the scale is either could be better ot worse than the other.
A junky scale is a junky scale whether analog or digital.
A good test is to lean way forward and then lean way back...a lot of difference in the readings and the scale is junk...if you paid more than $50 it's JUNQUE (but fancier)

Unfortunately, some digitals can mask the fact of variable readings by locking in the first reading.
You want a scale that is reproducible. In the first week weigh yourself several times without eating, drinking or going to the bathroom over an hour or so...you should get within a pound of the same number. If not, take it back and try another.
Solid, sturdy and heavy are all plusses. You don't want a platform that flexes underfoot...it absorbs part of your weight and skews the reading.
A NICE plus is a calibration wheel on the scale. Then you can take it into your doctor's office or better yet your gym (and pile calibrated weights on) and turn the dial to adjust your scale's weight to a known standard.
