The best way is to buy a book which lists all the calories and carbs for just about every food you would ever eat. I recommend one called "Food Counts" - You can find it in any good sized book store. You will know when you find it - my paperback edition is 700+ pages..... It even lists all the foods from the "Fast Food Restaurants"....
The next thing you may want to do is keep a daily journal of exactly what you consume..... and make calorie/carb notations...
And last, but NOT LEAST, (take my advice on this one) - get on the Scale EVERY SINGLE DAY, in the morning after you wake up and shower......NO matter how MUCH you may have eaten the night before.... This is the secret to long term weight loss....
