Hi, Pilgreen, & welcome
Congratulations on your baby
I can't attest to fiber pills. I did, however, try some Benefiber for added fiber in my diet. It wasn't great. Did nothing for my appetite and actually causes constipation unless you drink a ton -- and I mean a ton -- of water.
I have had success with adding fiber rich foods in my diet. This helps me feel full. I still snack, but I make sure it's a healthy, nutricious snack, usually one with fiber, too!
If you decide against the pills, try a bowl of steel cut oats in the morning for breakfast. I've been eating these a few days now, and I have to force myself to eat lunch. I'm that full. And if you like a homeade, thick rice pudding, that's exactly what they taste like. Much different than traditional oatmeal. They take a while to cook, but there are some shortcuts. You can boil the water the night before and let the oats sit covered overnight, and breakfast is ready in the morning. You can also put them in the crockpot with some dates and dried fruit so a nice, aromatic breakfast is waiting for you in the morning.
Apples (with skins!), prunes and nuts are good snacks full of fiber. So is a baked potato with the skin...not for a snack, but you can make a nice lunch with a baked potato and salsa or white chili on top. Incorporate some legumes into your meals for added fiber, as well (beans in a salad, Mexican-themed dinners, you can add a can of refried beans...get fat-free or vegatarian, tho...they taste the best and don't have chemicals).
Hey, I snack, too. The trick is to snack on foods that will fill you up, not make you even hungrier, and get some vitamins and nutrients in you
Good luck to you & keep us posted!
