THe nutrition lists are wonderful aids but when they don't exist, I use the USDA database:
Since your tax dollars pay for the list, you might as well use it.
GET a diet or a postal scale (digital is best) that goes to at least 2 pounds.
For a sandwich...2 slices bread (usually 200 calories ...from the package)
Weight the meat or cheese...look up the numbers (Thuman's and Boars Head have brochures for all their deli products...use these for ANY deli food)
Consider lettuce and the like free
Condiments use the numbers on the bottle per Tbsp.
Once you have this number put it on the last page as SALAMI SANDICH...and then all you need do is copy this number into your daily list every time you make the same thing.
It gets easier and easier.
(Have the diet soda...they are FREE as are coffee tea etc.)
My coffee is 20 calories...12 ounces of coffee, 1 ounce (measured in a shot glass) fat free half and half (20), 1/3 of a packet of nutrasweet.
I have 3 coffees befopre breakfast...60 calories marked down immediately
You'll catch on fast.
Get a big fat spiral note book...mine is 4x6" and 180 pages (360 days worth!)
I do weekly and monthly averages to keep tabs and I record my morning weight next to the date at the top of each page.
