Meal Replacement Bars

Do any of you know of any good tasting meal replacement bars?

I am a substitute teacher and there are times I have to be out the door 15 minutes after I get called. I do not have time to plan or pack a lunch on those days. I figure if could grad a bar and a piece of fruit on my way out the door.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I always keep a slim fast bar in my purse for days I don't get a lunch at all. They don't taste good at all, but they're somewhat filling. I'm a stenographer, and often the attorneys/judges like to "work through lunch" without a real break. Sometimes they'll give me five minutes to rest my hands, so I need to wolf something down in five minutes.

Something I would suggest that's even better is to make a loaf of bread on the weekend with a fruit and/or veggie and add some walnuts to it (I like a hearty, sweet zucchini bread the best). I also do this with muffins. I find it much more filling and healthier than a meal bar. I can just cut a slice and wrap it in plastic wrap, or just grab and muffin and toss it in a little ziploc bag in the mornings. Plus, I have a healthy snack if I'm home, too

here's the ones i like:

Slim Fast bar (I actually think they're good, lol!) - chocolate chip cookie dough flavor
Clif Bar - super duper good! - Chocolate Chip, Fudge Brownie and Lemon are my fav's
Harvest Bar - been eatin' these for years! - i like the PB Choc Chip and Toffee best
Luna Bar - made by the Clif Bar people and a little lower in calories (180) - lemon, s'mores, pecan pie, etc. - tons of good flavors!

if you're thinking of grabbing one of these with a piece of fruit for breakfast, that's awesome, but they really aren't substantial enough for lunch (in my opinion). if you ARE going to eat them for lunch, i'd advise adding a yogurt, a piece of fruit and possibly some carrot sticks or something. you'll have a more well rounded meal that'll keep you going longer but still be super healthy. good luck!
