Body fat percentage - Weight Loss Message Board

Hi, I'm wondering why my body fat count is lower before I go to bed than when I wake up in the morning. it seems to be that way everyday, I go to bed feeling proud of myself (it ranges between 23% to 25%)in the evening and then I wake up and it shoots way up to 26-27%. Is this enough of a difference to really matter?? The chart I have says that I am overweight with anything over 25% for my height. Also, is body fat percentage the same thing as BMI (body mass index)? Thanks in advance for anyone who can answer my ??

Also, I have been drinking a ton of water and my weight seems to be dropping. Yeahhh!! (drinking 1/2 my body weight like someone earlier mentioned) thanks to whoever that was.:

How are you measuring your body fat %? is it one of those scales that tells you that as well? If so they are not very accurate, and flucations like that could be due to anything, extra water for example could do it. It works by electrical impedence, but its a crude form of it, the true electrical impedence body fat calc. is more accurate and sophisticated.

For a true (well truer) reading on a real elec. imped. machine they say your to have supposed to have emptied your bladder within the last hour because it screws with the readings. I dont think you have anything to worry about. And no body fat % is nothing like BMI. BF% is the amount of fat tissue, BMI is your weight relative to your height.

I presume you are talking about your BMI that is changing as you sleep and since your height cannot change you must be saying that you weigh more when you awaken than when you go to sleep.
This is physically IMPOSSIBLE unless you drink lots of water during the night...water weighs 2 pounds/quart.
