Random thought...

Alright, so I know there is always mixed reviews on how it is best to maintain your weight, after you lose it. Also people frequently ask: "cant I eat whatever I crave so long as the calories are less than I burn so I'll lose weight?" The common verdict is to change your diet, eat cleanly, and that will lead to quality weight loss and maintenance. Here is my thought process...if you continue to eat whatever you want, just in portions small enough to be burning more than you consume, doesn't that defeat the purpose? I mean your body essentially "tells" you what you are needing, if you're craving something sweet, or salty, its a sign usually! But if you're trying to eat a portion that will be conducive to weight loss, it seems pointless, because more often than not, the portion I consume (small in order to aide weightloss) simply doesn't cure my craving. So are we better off to try to eat smaller portions of what we crave and like, and possibly still not feel satiated? Or are we better of to just learn to live without them, and eat "cleanly"?

I've always heard if your body craves a certain food it usually means you are missing some kind of nutrient or vitamin in your body. Can someone please tell me what I may be missing? I crave chocolate like every day, all day long. What vitamin deficiency do you guys think I may have?
