Mobility scooter? - Weight Loss Message Board

Hi,
I've gained quite a lot of weight in the past couple of years, whilst at college, and I get really tired and upset walking long distances. I've just started my masters course at a new college, which I has a really spread out campus. There are no shuttle buses like at my old university, and I can't handle the hills and stairs at my size. I've tried diets but they don't work and I can't stick with jsut eating crappy vegetables and celery - a girl's got to eat well! - and I'm too busy for gyms. I really want to know whether I can get a decent mobility scooter for getting me around - I don't want to miss out on classes or socialising by not being able to move about. Does anyone know how much a good scooter will cost? Can you get them second hand? Also, can you get health insurance to pay for something like this? I'd like something cool that can scoot me around quickly and not look frumpy - any advice?

health wise your much better off just walking between your classes! the more you walk the easier it will get!
if you get a scooter and ride everywhere instead of walking then you might was well just quit school becuase you will either be too overweight to enjoy your life or you will be 6ft under from complications of obesity. You need to burn those calories off somehow.

I am not sure how serious your situation is however I think it is worth the intial discomfort of walking so that you can add some physical exercise to your rountine. My campus has tons of hills as well and while I dread the idea of walking up them it is well worth it in the end...even if I had to trade my cute shoes for a pair of sneakers
