| Question about daily calorie intake and a diet.
Hello, i'm new to these boards.
my new years resolution was to quit drinking and loose some weight.
i'm 24 years old, 6ft 2, around 200lbs and have decent metabolism.
I normally watch my fat intake, rarely eat junk foods, rarely eat red meat, almost never eat fast
food. However, i was a very avid beer guy. drinking alot of heavy ales and stouts.
For the last few months or so of 2005, i kinda let myself go. I was unemployed, drinking 5-7 drinks per day. that coupled with lots of chineese food, and very little physical activity, made me gain about 15 pounds in maybe 3 months or so.
So new years day, I stopped drinking completely and decided to go on a diet.
only i did the stupid thing and didn't get any advise on dieting.
Instead, i just cut down my calorie and fat intake. I also walk/jog 4 miles or almost every day.
I've only been dieting for 8 days, and i think i lost at least 4 lbs. i've been told that is too fast.
I've been keeping strict track of my calorie intake daily.
its looking like this
1/3/07 - 1325 calories 18 grams of fat (4 mile walk)
1/4/07 - 1380-1400 calories 17.5-20 fat (4 mile walk)
1/5/07 - 1250 total 8.5 grams
1/6/07 - 1440 calories around 20 grams of fat (4 mile walk)
1/7/07 - 1545 calories (4 mile walk)
1/8/07 - 1255 cal
1/9/07 - 1395 cal 20g fat
1/10/07 - 1080 cal around 22 grams of fat (4 mile walk)
1/11/07 - 1100 cal 24 grams of fat (4 mile walk/jog)
i haven't exactly been starving myself. just eating 4 meals a day with low cal foods (tuna, salad, organic bean soups, fruit, veg, water, herbal tea, etc).
i was told that i'm eating too little in terms of my calorie intake, and that my metabolism will go down from eating like this.
i found this calorie calculator online
[removed]
it suggests for fat loss that i eat 2156 cal per day.
does that sound about right? have i hurt my metabolism with 8 days of calories counts this low? Any recomendations to what i should do to keep my metabolism high, and loose weight at a healthy pace?
