Hi everyone,
I hope that no one gets upset with me, I just had an appt w/my pcp. I need to loose a lot of weight. I thought about gbp, went to meeting and would love to do it. Dh and mom are dead set against it. Insurance said I had to do 6 mo MD supervised diet before they would pay. I asked MD about otc diet weight loss meds and suppliments. She said stay away from all of them, Houdia, mua hung, and a list too long for me to remember. She said she has already hospitalized 3 people this year for heart issues just from houdia. I am by no means telling anyone what to do, I just think that there are other healthier ways to go about loosing weight. She is sending me to a Medical Weight Loss MD. They do a total work up of yours and family's history, ekg, labs etc. They put you on diet best for you, you go back every two weeks for B12 shot, which helps with water retention and really boosts energy. My insurance does not cover it, but requires it in order to pay for gbp. They told me that avarage weight loss is 16 to 20 lbs a month. If this works for me, I won't need gbp. It isn't cheap. I joined LA last year, in two months I lost 22lbs and then went up and down 3-4 lbs 3rd month, not changing anything I was doing. That plan cost me about 2200.00. I did get refund for not used months. Md supervised will end up being about 875.00 if I figured correctly for 6 mos. It is safer because of MD supervision than otc meds. which if you add up all you have spent on diet books and otc meds, probably isn't out of line. I think I own every diet book ever written. I know how desparate people are to loose weight. I absolutely hate my body and have very low self esteem. I do not wish to hear of anyone on here getting very sick or seriously damaged from otc weight loss supliments. I encourage you all to check it out. I am a regular poster on the back pain boards as I've recently had back surgery. I will also be a regular poster on the quit smoking boards in about a week. Please, no one hate me, I just care that people loose weight safely and if you can't do it on your own, like me, you at least owe it to yourself to check it out. Just a thought. Usta
