Tired of being fat, I'm doing Atkins Diet!

K. I've had it. I know many people who lost weight on the Atkins diet and I'm going to do it. Just got back from grocery, stocked up on stage one approved foods and had my first meal.

Reviewing the list of Atkins approved food, I like it and can see myself eating like this for life especially if I lose the weight, gain the energy and in general feel well. I have at least 47 pounds to lose. 67 would make me even happier.

Does anyone has experiences with Atkins to share? How much did you lose during induction? Did you stay on induction longer than 14 days? Any tips?

I'm looking for support, encouragement and maybe someone(s) that is or has done the atkins to share experiences. No debunkers please. I feel I have thoroughly researched Atkins and I'm moving forward! Thanks all.

hi,
I suggest buy Dr Atkins Book, theres 3 books out so buy the latest, its probably better to go by that than do what others say.
this is a much controversal diet, its your choice.
I personally don't think its a safe way.

Re: Tired of being fat, I'm doing Atkins Diet!

Hi,
Good luck on your diet!! I didn't do the Atkins diet persay but I did go on a very low carb diet (it was really low, but I still allowed myself some carbs). In 5 months I lost about 45 pounds (it originally was about 60 but I've gained some of it back... but I'm back on the diet again!) I also went to the gym when I could.
Hmm tips... well, I could be wrong, but a lot of the times when products like candy or something say "3 net carbs!" it's not actually true. It'll say I dunno, 25 carbs or something but 22 of those are sugar alcohol... I don't know how true that is that you can just deduct it. My mom is diabetic and she did learn that you could deduct the fiber, but she always told me it was 1 carb for every 3 grams of dietary fiber, and she never learned that you could take off for sugar alcohol. But, I could be wrong, because we could just be uninformed, but I usually don't trust stuff like that anyways because who knows if you can really subtract them, and if you are going to eat 25 carbs you might as well eat something that tastes better! Lol. But again, I could be wrong! I like sugar free jello with whipped cream as a snack, that's like no carbs at all... =) Good luck!

Re: Tired of being fat, I'm doing Atkins Diet!

I have lost 19lbs in the past 5 weeks doing my version of atkins... more of general low carb since i try to stay around 20 net grams of carbs per day, but don't adhere strictly to the list of induction foods... I like to have some berries and nuts too, and haven't had a problem with stalling.

Re: Tired of being fat, I'm doing Atkins Diet!

Good luck! I think the trickiest part of Atkins is getting used to not eating carbs, but it does become easier as you get used to it. I think the first week is the hardest! It is a controversial diet and some of the foods aren't the best for your heart.... but that is because you are allowed to eat certain fattening meats that aren't the best for you. To make it even healthier, stick with lean meats!
