I've heard of people having their jaws wired shut before for weight loss. I don't know how you go about it. But, it's not a good way to go. I've been troubled with TMJ for the last 17 years. I've had 3 surgeries and during each of these times, I wasn't allowed to chew for 6 months at a time. I would lose 12-20 pounds each time and then immediately gain it back within about 1 or 2 months. If you're overweight, you're overweight for a reason. It's probably a combination of poor food choices and too little exercise. If you have your jaw wired shut and lose weight, you won't have changed the poor habits you have and will gain back at least that much weight when you can eat again. Hope this helps!
