Re: weight loss and beta blockers
I have been on beta blockers for years and have been overweight for a long time, even before 2 babies packed on more weight. 8 months ago I decided to do something about it and I have lost almost 30lbs. I have done it with diet and excercise. The thing with beta blockers is that it slows everything down so it is really hard to get your heart rate up when exercising. For years I thought I couldn't lose weight because of the medication but I had tried only dieting, no exercise. The key is the exercise! And I don't run marathons or anything, I just walk on my treadmill 3-5 days a week and do light weight training. It takes LONGER to lose weight on beta blockers, most people would have lost 30 lbs in way less time but if you stick with it, it will happen.
I am also hypothyroid so that is a big factor in my weight loss ablility too. Good luck!
