Not losing weight on ATKINS!! ANY SUGGESTIONS???

Greetings!
I need to lose 35 pounds and I have been on ATKINS for 15 days. I have only lost 3 pounds and I am sticking to the plan FAITHFULLY!!! I am so frustrated. I exercise 4 days a week and my "KETO-STIX" are dark purple (so I must be in lipolysis/ ketosis) but why isn't the scale moving??? I am so frustrated, but I can't quit. Any ideas what the problem is? I am only 32 and this weight that I have put on is a combination of chilbirth and depression eating during my husbands deployment!
Need some advice!
THANX

That's completely reasonable. 1-2 pounds per week is optimal. Not what you want to hear, but true!

Re: Not losing weight on ATKINS!! ANY SUGGESTIONS???

A couple of things to consider... First, you should stop exercising... for now. If you are truly in "induction phase" they say it's better to not exercise at this time. It is contradictory to the type of "burning" you want to accomplish. Many people do much better if they slowly add exercise after they move into phase 2 of the plan.

The other question is if you are on any depression meds, that can interfere with your weightloss, no matter how hard and faithfully you diet.

Another thing to look at is exactly what your 20 carb grams per day are made of. You may be in ketosis, but some people have trouble losing if a lot of those carb grams are coming from milk products or sugar alcohols (artificial sweeteners). Try limiting your 20 carb grams to ONLY non-starchy vegetables (lettuce, brocolli, etc) and cheeses.

Re: Not losing weight on ATKINS!! ANY SUGGESTIONS???

I am into my 5th week of a very strict Atkins diet! I have lost 17 pounds. I have stayed on the induction diet, but plan on one more week and then moving on. Are you careful about BBQ? Ketchup? Things like this aren't allowed and can really slow down your weight lose, tho its hard to understand why. Atkins is a very hard diet to follow and stay on, BUT it always gives me great results. On induction you also need to be taking a multi-vitamin, and drinking plenty of fluids....I do not do well with water, so I am drinking diet sodas and still losing. You also need to eat LOTS of the foods that are allowed...as in the more you eat, the more you will lose. I eat two eggs and two pieces of bacon for breakfast every morning.....if you are subing sausage make sure there is no hidden sugar.

Hope this helps!

Mileena
