I can't think of anything better. I have not personally lost weight swimming, but I have dropped 55lbs (32% to 17%bf) from just running and 70lbs (~30% to 12%bf) from just cycling on two different occasions since 2005. (180lbs of weight fluctuation total). I'm positive swimming would prove better results, and be easier on the joints than running.
