After being treated for more than 3 years by a nurse practioner for hypothyroidism I decided to see an endocrinologist. He diagnosed me with Hashimoto's and started me on synthroid/cytomel. About a year later I started gaining weight rapidly even though I went to the gym regularly & ate healthy. My energy level also dropped considerably to where I could hardly muster up the energy to go up & down stairs. I thought I was going crazy so I started researching online & read about others just like me, (WooHoo, I wasn't going crazy!) & their doctors prescribing phentermine with synthroid/cytomel. I called my doctor & he said that he had prescribed phentermine for some of his patients & would start me on it. Wow! Immediately I noticed a difference. I didn't realize how low my energy was, until I took the phenetermine and got back my "normal
" energy level. It's been over a year & no side effects whatsoever.
A lot of what you read online refers to the "diet" pills containing phentermine, and people who do not have Hashimoto's, taking them. Dosage along with the time of day, that you take it is crucial as with any other pharmaceutical.
I would recommend your daughter see a specialist if she isn't already. I go twice a year. Also, eating healthy throughout the day and doing some type of workout is important to maitaining a healthy energy level.
