Hi - new to the board & just looking for support

I'm Kim, 30/f/m with 3 children, age 7, 4 & 20 months. I am 5'5 and currently weigh around 200lbs. I have tried lots of diets - but never seem to stick with anything. I'm very impatient, and if I don't see results within a few days, I give up & resort to old habits.

The first thing I've done to try to reach my goal of 150lbs is to give up coca-cola. I'm now drinking an occasional diet dr. pepper, but am trying to steer clear of the caffeine. I'm working to replace my 4 cans of coke a day to ice cold - water! <IMG SRC="http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/frown.gif"> It's tough, though. So far so good, though.

I am also taking Thermoslim...in fact, today is my first day. No bashing please - I do understand and have carefully weighed the side effects of products containing ephedra. I am also being closely monitored by my family physician - and he is aware I'm taking this product. (he doesn't agree - but will monitor me)

I work full time and 4 days out of 5 skip breakfast - and wonder just how important breakfast is for losing weight? I've heard lots of different ideas on this.

I eat lunch (fast food unfortunately) at work, then eat dinner around 7:00pm.

I only find time to make myself exercise about twice a week - and that's usually only riding an exercise bike until my legs give out (about 4 minutes <IMG SRC="http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/frown.gif"> )

Any suggestions/support/advice is appreciated!

Hi Kim,
Good luck with your diet. Have you ever tried the atkins diet or the sugar busters diet? I lost 25 pounds on the atkins diet and it was easy because after being on it for 2 days I lost my cravings for sweets and carbs. I lost 6 pounds the first week. Another thing you can try while your dieting is to drink a hot cup of water with the juice of about 1/2 a lemon twice a day. It helps your body get rid of excess fluid.

I agree with your Doc on the pills - it is good you are being monitered while trying this drug.

For diet try Dr. Shapiro's Picture Perfect Weight Loss its sold on amazon there is also a slew of customer reviews on it there. Its the NO-diet diet! No rules no can's no can'ts ...many people loose a lot of weight FAST

Breakfast is very important. the word itself brea fast helps the metabolizm start for the day after being in a state of rest. So start with that, even if it is small. I personally am a Weight Watcher, I thin it can be combined with almost any other diet. I also use ******.
As for the exercise, some is better than none. Push yourself even if it is for a min. eachtime. and add another day if you can.
The coke? well water is the best and the standard rule is 1/2 your body weight in fluid oz.

Well I wish you luck and the support you will need to get through the day with a full time job and the little ones, but if you believe you can do it.....you can.
