I am in my pre-teens and have been over-weight since I was born. I weighed 8lbs. and 9 ozs. when I was born and haven't lost it yet. No matter what diets I try, I can't lose weight. I even tried not eating for a while. It worked, kind of, but I got severe stomach pains when I didn't eat anything all day. So yes, I kinda tried the anorexia thing. My friends all helped me get off it though. Is there anything I can do? And do I have a disease of some sort?

only because 123 is small on some people, so i thought i'd ask your height and age. with only being 11 diet pills and stuff like that wouldn't be good for you because it will block the nutrients you need while growing, and could have serious side effects too (at any age, but i'd be more concerned with you then i would a 25 year old). what types of exercise do you get? you might try and do just alittle extra, and maybe more fruits and veggies. oh and before i forget, yes baby fat is very common with your age. it usually melts away in your teenage years. you should have no problems losing the little extra weight you're carrying. your body is just adjusting itself from childhood to teenage years. you will be fine, but if your still really wanting to lose, just try more fruits. wish i could help you more, but good luck, and God bless.
[This message has been edited by FatAndDepressed (edited 06-17-2002).]
Thank you! I barely get exercise, but I will try and get more. I will change my diet. In fact, since it is now lunchtime, I will make myself a salad and have fruit and a little bit if cheese for dessert! See Ya! THANK YOU FATaNDdEPRESSED!!!!!!!!!!!
I can relate to being overweight at a younger age but you are still really young and have some growing to do. Like everyone else has said, you do still have baby fat. I would suggest joining a sport or a dance class. This way you can exercise and still have fun. I play soccer competitively so, that is how I get my exercise. It is a very good thing that you are trying to change your eating and exercise habits at such a young age but don't get too worried about those things right now. You are too young to be stressed out.So, Good luck with things.
Thank you for being concerned. I want to exercise, but I have exercise-induced asthma. Which means, in a nutshell, that when I exercise I start wheezing and coughing and I need to take an inhalor. I try my hardest to exercise, though. Just yesterday, I took an hour and a half walk with my mother. Actually, she was walking and I was on my roller-blades. But I went with one water-bottle and without taking an inhalor. I lived, and I didn't have to take my inhalor afterwards, but I died of thirst! My mom even filled up our water-bottle with water from a sprinkler we passed, I was that thirsty! Isn't my mother nice? Anyway, so I can't do that to lose pounds. I am very over weight and even my mother says I am and lectures me on being that way. So, if you have any advice on how to lose weight without exercise, that would be appreciated! Thank you so much!
Okay trust me.. if you're a little overweight around 8-14 years old like 3/4 of the time you're getting ready to grow! The body needs to have a little extra weight so that everything "balances" out after your growth spurt. I remember when I was 11 or 12 I ended up weighing as much as 150 pounds! I grew around 4 or 5 inches over that year though. I felt so depressed because I thought I was just getting fatter and fatter and nothing would get better. Almost everyone gains a little when they're going through puberty anyway. Nothing to worry about!
Onto your last post.. well one thing you could do is drink lots of water! I just learned that little lesson myself lately. You may be like me and think it's gross, but try drinking as much as you can anyway. It flushes out toxins in your body which can make cellulite more visible along with lots of other things!
If you're really wanting to watch your weight, just remember that you burn calories with everything you do. You even burn calories reading a book! I think it's important to get exercise, but I don't feel the need to go run a mile or do push ups if you can't! Not everyone is made the same. This may sound really lame, but you could help your mom clean the house one day or you could totally rearrange your room. That is exercise too ya know! Little things done for longer periods of time can be just as effetive.
There's something else you could do. It sounds strange, but it works! You can do this while you're relaxing at the computer or just watching TV..anywhere! Just tighten and relax some of your muscles over and over. If I don't feel like doing sit ups or crunches for tummy, I just tighten my abb muscles over and over.
Well this is all I can think of now. I really wouldn't worry about it though if I were you. Like everyone said before, your body is just changing and in a few years more than likely you won't have this problem!
